About Douglas Tatlow

Douglas Tatlow—Canada's #1 Safety Coach—is a respected safety leader, author, speaker, and creator of The Safety Principles™. With more than five decades of experience in industrial operations, Douglas brings practical knowledge and real-world understanding to every course, workshop, and presentation he delivers.

His career has included heavy-equipment operation, pipeline and oilfield construction, drilling and service rigs, forestry, transportation, facility development, damage prevention, incident investigation, critical-risk management, and operational leadership. He also served for 12 years as an Auxiliary Constable with the RCMP.

Douglas understands that workplace safety cannot be built through rules and procedures alone. Strong safety performance depends on leadership, communication, accountability, hazard recognition, sound judgment, and people who are willing to look out for one another.

He created The Safety Principles™ to share the lessons, experiences, and practical strategies he has developed throughout his career. His approach connects leadership, regulatory responsibilities, workplace safety, incident investigations, and emergency response into one complete learning system.

Douglas is also the author of The Safety Principles, Stories from a Co-Worker, and Think and Work Safe. His teaching combines professional experience with powerful stories and immediately applicable principles that help people think differently about safety.
